At 1870 Abdallah El Kahhal a young Syrian at his thirties emigrated from Syria to Cairo, Egypt where he opened a carpet shop in Khan El Khalili  Bazaar.

Passing the business from one generation to the next El Kahhal family has been involved  ever since in buying selling and repairing of fine handmade rugs.

At the early 1940 Mohamed El Kahhal was the first in Egypt to manufacture rugs based on his knowledge of the Old World knotting techniques.

Today El Kahhal family owns & runs the biggest factory for making and finishing  & exporting hand made carpets in Egypt.
