We know that—unfortunately—the overzealous pitches at carpet workshop visits earned this industry sector a bad reputation. This is why we at El Kahhal Carpets strictly separate workshop tours and carpet sales. We assure you that we will not pitch you any of our products; moreover, you will not visit any of our showrooms as the tours start and end at a meeting point in the vicinity of our workshops. But we do hope of course that a tour at one of our workshops might help you to better understand and appreciate the art of carpet making and that you visit us at one of our showrooms another day.
The duration of our tours is approximately two hours. Our tours start with a brief historical background of oriental carpet making and cover the various steps required to create a handmade rug. Our guides and craftsmen will explain you in great detail the differences between the various raw materials, the different knotting techniques, and the designs. Moreover, you will also witness the awe-inspiring speed with which our skilled craftsmen tie their knots with absolute precision.
If wished, we will organize a pick up/drop off service from/to anywhere in Cairo.
